Words of Wisdom from "The Wise Guy"
"The fusion of progressive and classical values this book is about is not "radical" compared to let's say Jesus, Jefferson, or King. It's just that certain political factions want to marginalize a value system that does not maintain the status quo in regard to race, class, church/state alliances, and societal responsibilities. Our country needs major work, and so does the world - people are suffering needlessly, and this is not okay. "Values of the wise" are our answer."
  -- Jason Merchey

A Careful, Critical Look at America Since 9/11
Segment 1 | If you, like me, are an American, have you felt that things have not improved since America took one on the jaw on September 11, 2001? We found out then how woefully unprepared our government was, and how the reality of the world was now on our doorstep. Since then, chicanery, corruption, and cronyism have handicapped and prevented the inevitable repairs to our way of life and our national decisions that would make us safer and better overall. To explore this, Jason speaks with the controversial and creative Christine Rose, including about her film "Liberty Bound," a film that "entertainingly explores America’s ongoing struggle to keep a comfortable balance between democracy, capitalism, and fascism."    [^]

A Mother Speaks About Values
Segment 1 | Sheila Ellison is passionate about many things; she has her own website, www.completemom.com, a nonprofit organization, and has written nine books. One of them caught Jason's eye - If Women Ruled the World." Though the title can be a bit off-putting to a man, I read it cover to cover and enjoyed the 150 stories she included. Each is a different woman speaking about the values that would make the world different - better. It features famous women like Delores Huerta, Medea Benjamin, and Barbara Ehrenreich, in addition to unsung heroes who can visualize how the world could be improved if the worst of the men would cede more power.    [^]

An Exploration of Wisdom
Segment 1 | Wisdom is a simple, yet elusive matter. Everyone seems to know something about wisdom, but few deeply understand it. Do you have to be a Buddhist monk, or a scholar of ancient Greek philosophy to know what wisdom really means? How about the person who is very "in touch with themselves and the universe," do they have a grasp of wisdom? Or the child who has not yet been shaped or damaged by the world - do you not sometimes think they have an unadulterated understanding of things as they are?    [^]
